“The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” Book Craze – Our 5 Favourite KonMari Method Photos

When it comes to tips and tricks for organizing and decluttering your life, no one is more popular right now than Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo. Her book ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up’ has topped best-seller lists around the world and sparked the KonMari Method craze. Known as the master of simplifying, organizing and storing, Marie Kondo’s KonMari Method advocates living with only those things that bring you joy. That if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you’ll never have to do it again.

As her millions of fans know, you only keep possessions that “spark joy” when you hold them, one-by-one. If you don’t instantly feel joy with a possession, it’s time to get rid of it. Once you’ve decided what sparks joy, you follow her method to organize and store.

Some of her most popular tips include sorting by category (not location), picking up each item and asking yourself if it brings you joy (if it doesn’t, discard it), getting rid of most papers (old bills, etc), once you’ve decided what you what to keep, throw everything else away and file/organize/store once you’ve thrown the unnecessary items away.

Useful tip: The KonMari Method is harder than it looks and can take a LONG time. You may need to do it over a period of time, but wow, it really can give you a sense of relief, accomplishment and calmness! Some critics (and fans) have pointed out that Marie Kondo has no children and her method isn’t so easy with little ones running around. Fear not though, many of her biggest fans do have families and practice the KonMari Method faithfully.

Fun note: Marie Kondo is pregnant and will welcome her first child later this year (and as all mothers know, new baby means much more STUFF)!  See below for some of our favourite KonMari Method photos posted by KonMari Method fans from around the world.
